The College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad has achieved a new scientific milestone, adding to its long list of academic and research accomplishments. It has been ranked first in Iraq in the field of medicine according to the SCImago Institutions Rankings, and second in the Arab world in the field of Pathology. This achievement reflects the college’s distinguished scientific standing at both the Arab and international levels.<\/p>\n
This advancement in the global rankings is a result of the continuous scientific and research efforts of the college’s professors and researchers in the areas of medical education, scientific research, and community service. It also reflects the growing presence of their scientific output in reputable international journals indexed in international databases.<\/p>\n
The Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad affirmed that this distinction represents a significant scientific achievement, adding to the college’s impressive record of academic successes. It reflects the continuous development in the level of scientific and research performance, particularly in specialized medical fields, including Pathology, which has achieved a leading position among Arab universities.<\/p>\n
The Deanship also emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of scientific research within the college by supporting professors and researchers in research planning and scientific publication in prestigious international journals. This will contribute to establishing rigorous research and raising the level of scientific output, which will positively impact the college’s standing in future global rankings.<\/p>\n
In the same vein, the Deanship called upon professors and supervisors of postgraduate students, as well as students in the Iraqi and Arab Boards, to intensify high-quality scientific supervision and work on developing students’ research, analytical, and publication skills. This will contribute to improving scientific output and strengthening the college’s institutional research presence.<\/p>\n
The Deanship also stressed the importance of formalizing and documenting scientific supervision within the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad. This has a direct impact on supporting institutional research output and enhancing the college’s position in international academic rankings. Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of monitoring external supervision, particularly in Board programs, to achieve a genuine scientific impact that contributes to enriching the college’s academic progress.<\/p>\n
It is worth noting that the SCImago ranking is a significant global ranking that assesses the performance of universities and research institutions based on indicators such as scientific output published in the Scopus database, as well as indicators of innovation and societal impact. This makes progress in the ranking a clear indicator of the strength of research performance and the quality of scientific output of academic institutions.<\/p>\n
