The College of Medicine discusses a master’s thesis in the field of medical physics On Tuesday, 3/19/2024, the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis in the field of medical physics, entitled (Evaluation of gallbladder parameters using B-mode ultrasound imaging in diabetic patients) by the student Massoma Hussein Ahmed. The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Aida Zaki Al-Qaisi, and the membership was A.M. Dr.. Jinan Hussein Taha, A.M.D. Heba Mohammad Abdul Wahid, and under the supervision of M. Dr.. Musa's affection is a cup. The thesis aims to demonstrate the use of ultrasound imaging to examine the functions of the gallbladder, and to compare these functions in type 2 diabetes patients with diabetic neuropathy and those without these complications and to compare them to a control group. One hundred and fifty Iraqi people were divided into three groups to conduct the study. The first group included diabetics without neuropathy, the second group represented type 2 diabetics with neuropathy, and the third group was a control group. During the study, the factors that determine the functions of the gallbladder were examined, such as the thickness of the gallbladder wall, its size, and its contraction, and the characteristics of the gallbladder were measured before and after eating a meal, including the transverse diameter of the gallbladder and the thickness of its wall, as well as the size of the gallbladder and the rate of its contraction. The rate of contraction of the gallbladder and its size varied significantly across the three groups. The study found that patients with diabetes suffer from a clear change in the gallbladder emptying pattern and a decrease in the rate of contraction and the size of the gallbladder, as neuropathy affects the movement of gallbladder contraction, which leads to a change in its emptying pattern, which highlights the effect of neuropathy on gallbladder function. The thesis submitted by the researcher was accepted after public discussion, taking into consideration her use of scientific references of her thesis.
