On Monday, April 22, 2024, the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the field of microbiology entitled “The predictive value of the attraction factors (13,9,8), tumor necrosis factor alpha, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein in a sample of patients with inflammatory bowel disease” by the student. Muhammad Ali Qusay. The discussion committee, which was headed by Prof. Dr. Haifa Salman Abdel Rahim, and membership of Prof. Dr. Khalid Abdullah Al-Khazraji, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdel Kazem, and under the supervision of A.M.D. Sarmad Muhammad Hussein Zayni The main goal of the study is to reveal the potential predictive value of these parameters for measuring disease activity, and it included 150 participants divided into 3 groups: 50 participants with Crohn's disease, 50 participants with ulcerative colitis, and 50 participants in the control group. This study found that patients with inflammatory bowel disease had significantly higher levels than the control group, suggesting that these markers have predictive value for measuring disease activity. The thesis submitted by the researcher was accepted with distinction after conducting a public discussion, taking into consideration his use of scientific references and his discussion of his thesis. .
