Goal of the Course

  • Preparing and qualifying the student to possess the minimum required skills in using computers and devices, electronic communication, and electronic programs or applications: The goal is to give this student sufficient tools to continue his work in lifelong learning.
  • Professional use of electronic office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Being able to use the Internet for the purposes of searching for updated information.
  • Learn about using the SPSS statistical program.
  • Being able to use the interactive e-learning website of the Baghdad College of Medicine because it is one of the (and most important) pillars of learning and the official curriculum of the College of Medicine.
  • Learning about teamwork methods (within a team/using Google electronic tools).
  • Learn methods for searching for sources using medical database sites and learn to use the Endnote program to write sources.

Outcome of this Module

A. Cognitive and Theoretical Goals:

  • Easy handling of necessary computer terms and electronic applications.
  • Learning Office software.
  • Learn to use electronic content management programs and college programs.
  • Learn methods of searching for research sources on the Internet.

B. Skills:

  • Fluent dealing with computer terminology and electronic programs.
  • Acquiring basic skills to deal with office programs.
  • Acquiring the necessary skills to communicate using electronic messaging.
  • Acquiring skills for self-development and distance learning.

Methods of Learning

  • Computer lab teaching using a smart board.

Methods of Assessment

  • Formative exam using the INLE site.
  • Final written exam with multiple-choice questions and essay-based questions.
  • Practical exam using the computer.
