Goal of the Course

  • Introducing the historical roots and intellectual foundations of human rights.
  • Study the historical development of human rights.
  • Explaining the importance of human rights and their relationship to public freedoms.
  • Socialization and education on human rights (solidarity, development of dialogue, and recognition of others).
  • Read the most prominent declarations, charters, and regional and international organizations related to human rights.
  • Introducing the importance of human rights guarantees at various levels (constitutional, judicial, international).
  • Highlighting the importance of human rights as a goal of eliminating extremism and terrorism and thus rejecting violence and creating security and civil peace.
  • Introducing the crimes of the Baath Party.

Outcome of this Module

A. Cognitive and Theoretical Goals:

  • Initial knowledge of the importance of human rights in sustaining life.
  • Diagnosing the obstacles facing human rights.
  • Encouraging the student to aspire to more knowledge about human rights.
  • Creating a culture among students about human rights and freedom of opinion during practice.
  • Creating immunity for the student in the face of any harm to human rights.

B. Skills:

  • Introducing a new topic to the student’s general culture (human rights).
  • Motivating students to follow up on what is relevant to the topic through the media and in their conversations.
  • Encouraging the students to be bold in analyzing what is published about human rights in various media outlets.

  • Summative Exam (written).
  • Discussion topics about human rights.

  • Enhancing the urge for the students to look more about human rights.
  • Enhancing medical/ethical behavior in looking after human rights in the community and with their patients.
