Goal of the Course
- One of the most important goals is to graduate safe and qualified doctors to provide primary health care and treatment of emergency cases.
- Analyzing disease cases and how to reach a safe laboratory diagnosis.
- Focus on the technical aspects of pathological diagnosis.
- Knowing the value and importance of genetic diseases and congenital malformations as major health problems and genetic factors as important causes of disease.
- Classification of genetic diseases (including birth defects).
- Identify possible diseases of genetic origin.
- Effectively apply basic concepts of genetics and its variants in clinical situations.
- Analysis of cases of genetic origin with regard to the basic defect and the mechanism of disease occurrence; Signs and symptoms of the disease whenever possible genetic causes are environmental causes for birth defects.
- Describe basic genetic tests, their uses, and their limitations.
