Implementation of the Integrative Curriculum

The implementation of the integrative curriculum has revealed several deficiencies in the previous educational approach. These include an excessive number of theoretical hours, a lack of interactive units, the separation of basic and clinical sciences, and the absence of clear standards for verifying learning outcomes.

To address these issues, several interactive learning units have been added within the modular system, starting from the first year. This enables teaching large groups of students in an interactive manner, which is particularly crucial for the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad, given the increasing number of enrolled students each year. Under these circumstances, teaching in small groups becomes unfeasible.

The new curricula focus on body systems, integrate basic and clinical sciences, and emphasize community health and problem-solving.
