Health Progression Law for Medical and Health Professionals

According to the instructions of the Health Progression Law for Medical and Health Professionals, graduates of Iraqi medical colleges are covered by the law and are appointed at the central level to progress according to service. This progression starts from periodic residence, advances through gradual residence, and culminates in senior residence.

Article 1

First: The medical or health professional shall be appointed as an employee in accordance with the law, and the duration of the medical and health training shall be three years for doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and health professionals.

Second:

  • A. The supporting health professionals mentioned in Clause (Fifth) of Article 1 of this Law shall be appointed as employees in accordance with the law and according to the needs of the Ministry of Health by determining a percentage for them from the total appointments announced by the Ministry of Health and regulated by instructions issued by the Minister of Health.
  • B. The Ministry of Health is obligated to include those with supporting health professions mentioned in Clause (Fifth) of Article 1 of this law in the appointment from the ranks of the staff movement (deletion and creation) in the Ministry of Health and the health departments in the governorates at a rate of 25% of the vacant ranks from deletion and creation annually.
