Introduction to the Scientific Affairs Unit

The Scientific Affairs Unit is affiliated with the office of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs. The organizational structure was issued by the Presidency of the University of Baghdad in cooperation with the Planning and Follow-up Division and was considered an independent unit. The role of the unit in general is to take care of the various scientific outcomes in the college, such as preserving scientific research, patents, books, and following up on various scientific activities such as conferences, seminars, and workshops.

The work of the Scientific Affairs Unit is included and its functions are intertwined with scientific branches and departments such as quality assurance, postgraduate studies, and other units such as the Cultural Relations Unit so that everyone can carry out the desired message with a spirit full of constructive scientific cooperation.

Mission

To reach the best level in accomplishing the tasks of the college branches and raising the scientific level and following up on the completion of all matters related to workshops, conferences, seminars, and discussion groups held in the college based on the instructions and controls approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Objectives

To enhance and consolidate scientific research and encourage and motivate teaching and research cadres to raise the level of research work in the college and follow up on the distinguished intellectual output of books, patents, and other forms of distinguished output.

Unit Tasks

  • Organize scientific conferences in coordination with the University of Baghdad, Department of Scientific Affairs by providing the university with information about the date of the conferences and their titles for the academic year, the central scientific plan for conferences, seminars, and workshops for each year and submitting them within the Nadooti program.
  • Follow-up and supervision of the registration of the research plan for the college's faculty using the electronic platform and follow-up of the authentication procedures starting from the branch and reaching the university.
  • Follow-up and documentation of published research for our university's faculty in global repositories such as Scopus and Clarivate.
  • Promote the transactions of faculty and employees wishing to obtain a study leave to complete their studies in the master's, doctorate, and board.
  • Organize the work of the scientific sabbatical procedures (research or teaching) and submit them in a proper manner to the university.
  • Provide faculty wishing to be scientifically promoted with support for their research included in the scientific plan.
