The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established in the early thirties of the last century as a branch of the Surgery Department. By the end of the thirties, and in line with scientific advancement worldwide, it became an independent branch for Obstetrics and Gynecology, playing its role alongside other departments of the college. Eminent professors have successively chaired the department, laying the foundation for academic, training, and service work.
