The College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad hosted the First Scientific Symposium of the Iraqi Society of Pathologists in a distinguished scientific event attended by a select group of consultants, academic physicians, and Board trainees specializing in this highly specialized field.
The symposium was inaugurated by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ameen Abdul-Hassan Manea Al-Alwany, who delivered a welcoming address in which he commended the efforts of the Society, emphasizing that “hosting this symposium represents a fundamental pillar in advancing scientific research and promoting specialized medical disciplines in Iraq.”
In an impactful address, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Qirtas, President of the Society, presented an overview of its establishment journey, which culminated in the creation of a well-established scientific body. He also highlighted the digital infrastructure developed by the Society, including the launch of a comprehensive website and interactive links to social media platforms, reflecting the specialty’s openness to contemporary developments and technological advancements.
Held in accordance with the announced program, the symposium featured scientific sessions addressing recent developments in histopathological diagnosis and modern technologies in the field. The distinguished attendance contributed significant scientific and professional momentum to the event.
The event concluded with the presentation of commemorative shields to the Dean of the College in recognition of his continued support for the Society’s scientific endeavors, as well as to the participating lecturers. The ceremony reflected a culture of appreciation and institutional collaboration that the Society seeks to establish as a guiding principle in its work.
