Harking the start of the new academic year, the College of Medicine held its first council on Monday morning, September 23, which began with a session in which the council hosted the heads of the administrative, financial, engineering and postgraduate departments in the college. The session began with the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani, welcoming the attendees, wishing everyone an academic year full of achievements and achieving goals at the academic and administrative levels. The Dean of the College expressed his thanks to all the staff working to complete the ongoing reconstruction campaign in the college, especially the engineering unit, for their efforts and integrity, which are a matter of great thanks and appreciation. As part of the college's support for its distinguished employees, the Dean of the College honored the Director of the Follow-up Department in the College, Mr. Qasim Abdul Hussein, noting that the honor comes with the aim of supporting distinguished employees through the Distinguished Employee Award monthly. The meeting also included listening to the directors of departments and units and the work challenges in order to overcome them in the service of the long journey of the college, while strengthening their roles in the field of powers granted to them. The Dean of the College also pointed out the need to follow up on students' commitment to official attendance and lecture schedules, and with regard to registering new students, work is underway to move to the electronic registration process. It was also noted that it is necessary to complete work on preparing modern technology in the library halls and providing modern computers, taking into account the need in light of the decision of the committee prepared for that. The meeting also discussed the efforts of the Services Unit in following up on cleaning and maintenance work. The Dean of the College concluded the meeting by thanking the attendees for their keenness to provide all the required efforts, congratulating them on the new academic year and stressing the need to adhere to the meeting's decisions.
