The College of Medicine discusses a doctoral thesis in the field of pharmacology On Wednesday, the seventh of February, the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad discussed the doctoral thesis entitled (The effects of selenium nanoparticles based on watercress extract compared to inorganic selenium and watercress extract on the reproductive system in male rats) by the student Basman Qasim Sharif. The discussion committee consisted of Professor Dr. Kifah Hamdan Abdel Ghafour as Chairman, and the membership of Professor Dr. Saad Dakhel Farhan, Professor Dr. Maysa Jalal Majeed, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhannad Mahdi Abd, and Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Qasim Yahya, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Shaima Jamal Ahmed, and Assistant Professor Dr. Huda Ibrahim Qassem. The thesis aimed to reveal the effect of selenium nanoparticles manufactured using watercress extract on biological parameters such as male hormones, antioxidant enzymes, sperm indicators, as well as the histological picture. The researcher concluded that the selenium nano solution has dominant effects on male fertility standards against the drug ketoconazole, which causes poor fertility. These results verify the new properties of selenium in its nano form for rapid and powerful development in the future. The discussion committee praised this thesis, which included new research information presented for the first time at the local and international levels, and the student was awarded an honors degree after conducting a public discussion, taking into consideration her use of scientific references and her defense of her thesis.
