The College of Medicine organizes a workshop on 3D bioprinting technology on the skin
The College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, organized the workshop entitled “Uses of Three-Dimensional Bioprinting on the Skin Technology'' in the presence of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani, and a number of the college’s teachers and researchers, in the Graduate Studies Hall on Thursday, the twenty-third of this month.
The workshop was held under the supervision of both of the teaching staff, “Professor Dr. Adel Abdul Ghafour Abdel Razzaq, and Assistant Professor Dr. Basman Medhat Saleh,” in cooperation with the Internal Medicine ddepartment - Division of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases, with the master’s graduate student from the American University of Connecticut, specializing in regenerative engineering, who presented the workshop : Reham Bahaa Ibrahim.
The workshop aimed to introduce the basics of this revolutionary technology, which allows the manufacture of functional tissues and organs using living cells and biological materials, and the uses of this advanced technology at the laboratory and clinical levels. Its topics included explaining the most important needs and uses of bioprinting technology, and the methodology for conducting this technology and its medical applications.
The workshop came up with a number of recommendations regarding the importance of using this advanced technology and regenerative medicine, including a call to open horizons for cooperation with local and international scientific and medical centers for the purposes of education and skills training for this vital and important project in the field of medicine.
