The 10th Annual Conference of the Iraqi Society of Pediatrics commenced today, Thursday, in Baghdad. The conference is being held in collaboration with the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad and the Arab Board of Health Specializations under the theme, “Celebrating a Decade of Child Care: From Evidence to Impact.” The event has brought together a large number of distinguished professors, physicians, specialists, and researchers from Iraq and several Arab and foreign countries.
The opening ceremony was held in the conference halls of Qalb Al-Alam Hotel, attracting prominent academic and scientific figures. Dr. Sura Abdul-Wahab Mahdi Al-Bayarmani, President of the Iraqi Society of Pediatrics and Chair of the Conference, welcomed the participating delegations and attendees. She emphasized that the conference represents an important scientific milestone for reviewing a decade of work and achievements in the field of pediatrics and for advancing efforts to improve healthcare services provided to children.
Al-Bayarmani underscored the importance of integrating contemporary scientific evidence and evidence-based approaches into clinical practice, thereby contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality and translating research-based knowledge into tangible outcomes in pediatric care.
Over the two-day conference, the scientific program features a broad range of specialized sessions, seminars, and workshops addressing the latest developments in neonatal and premature infant care, nutrition, infectious diseases, and genetic disorders. The program also presents findings from recent studies and research, providing a scientific platform for exchanging expertise and strengthening the medical skills of specialists, healthcare professionals, medical students, and young physicians.
The opening ceremony also featured an address by the Honorary President of the Conference, Professor Dr. Khalif Gargari, followed by a series of scientific sessions involving distinguished faculty members from the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad. The sessions witnessed substantial scientific engagement from attendees through specialized discussions, questions, and the exchange of perspectives and professional expertise on the various medical topics presented.
As part of its efforts to promote scientific participation and recognize academic contributions, the first day of the conference also included a ceremony honoring session chairs and distinguished speakers. Certificates of appreciation were presented in recognition of their scientific contributions, active participation, and role in enriching discussions and enhancing the academic value of the conference program.
The conference reaffirms the importance of academic and professional collaboration in advancing pediatric medicine and strengthening the presence of Iraqi medical and educational institutions in scientific forums.
