In its commitment to fostering a safe university environment and promoting preventative measures, the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad launched a comprehensive awareness campaign on occupational safety procedures, under the guidance of the Dean, Professor Dr. Ameen Abdul-Hassan Al-Alwany.
The campaign was overseen by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Kadhim Ali Kadhim, in cooperation with the college’s Civil Defense Unit, in accordance with the directives of the relevant authorities, particularly the Civil Defense Directorate.
The campaign aims to disseminate a culture of occupational safety among the college’s faculty, administrative staff, and technicians, and to emphasize the importance of adhering to preventative measures within classrooms, laboratories, and administrative facilities. This will contribute to reducing potential risks and protecting lives and property.
The campaign included distributing a series of educational and instructional videos demonstrating fire prevention methods and proper response procedures in the event of a fire, God forbid, with the goal of raising awareness and enhancing staff preparedness to handle emergencies according to established protocols.
The college administration affirmed that promoting a culture of occupational safety is a collective responsibility and an institutional priority, calling on all affiliates to review the awareness materials and adhere to what is stated therein, in order to establish a safe educational and working environment that keeps pace with best practices in higher education institutions, and embodies the commitment of the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad to protecting human beings and preserving its property and establishing the concepts of prevention and constant readiness.
