On Thursday morning, the sixteenth of November 2023, the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad will host a meeting of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq. The meeting, which was held in the main meeting room in the Deanship of the College of Medicine building, included taking the decision on the academic accreditation of the Hawler College of Medicine, which was reached with the participation of the delegation of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFMEK) in the meeting via the “Zoom” communication platform. The meeting touched on an extensive discussion of the documents of the Hawler College of Medicine and the report of the national evaluators team that recently visited the college, and then the decision was voted on by the members of the Iraqi National Council. It is noteworthy that the participation of the delegation members in the hypothetical meeting was the last step for the final evaluation of the work of the Iraqi Accreditation Council before granting it the international recognition decision, which it is hoped will be issued within the next few weeks.
