As part of an initiative aimed at fostering a positive and supportive university environment for students at the beginning of the new academic year, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, organized a counseling and welcoming activity under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ameen Abdul-Hassan Manea Al-Alwany, and under the supervision of the Unit Coordinator, Dr. Marwa Jameel Ahmed.

The activity included the distribution of counseling cards featuring concise psychological and academic messages and guidance. The cards focused on strategies for managing anxiety and academic stress, organizing study time, maintaining psychological well-being, and recognizing the importance of seeking support and assistance when needed. Symbolic gifts were also presented to students as part of an initiative designed to promote optimism and strengthen students’ sense of support and belonging from the very beginning of the academic year.

This activity is part of the programs implemented by the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, which aim to enhance students’ awareness of mental health, support them in addressing academic and psychological challenges, and contribute to providing a safe and supportive university environment in which students’ psychological well-being and overall welfare remain at the heart of the educational process.
