The College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, and within the activities of the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop entitled “Congenital anomalies related to fetuses and methods for detecting them during pregnancy,” presented by both of the college’s teaching staff, Dr. Nadia Nayef Ghazi, and the teacher, Shaub Yassin Hussein, in the Al-Kindi Hall at the college in the morning. Monday, December 11, 2023 The workshop, which was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani, the Head of the Continuing Education Unit at the College, Professor Dr. Ghazi Farhan Al-Hajji, and a group of college teachers and employees, discussed the types of congenital malformations, their causes, and the extent of the possibility of detecting them during pregnancy and treating them. This workshop was held with the aim of arriving at an early diagnosis of congenital malformations during the early stages of pregnancy, to help reduce the burden on society of giving birth to deformed and incompletely developed fetuses, and to explain how to deal with them. At the conclusion of the workshop, after opening the floor for discussion and interventions with the attendees, the two researchers called for the importance of increasing the number of periodic visits to pregnant women and performing the necessary laboratory examinations and analyzes for the purpose of reducing this type of deformities and diagnosing them early..
