This Thursday morning, the fifteenth of February, the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad hosted the heads and members of the accreditation councils and quality improvement councils in all Iraqi universities. The Ibn al-Haytham Hall at the college hosted the visiting professors in the workshop entitled “Introducing the academic accreditation councils to the path of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges, and benefiting from its experience in this field,” during which it reviewed the mechanisms and procedures of the program accreditation councils, and the experience of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges.” The workshop was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Agency / Department of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation in cooperation with the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges. At the opening of the workshop, which was attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani, on behalf of the respected President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf, he welcomed the honorable attendees, and said in a speech he delivered on this occasion: “We have the honor to receive and host everyone.” He also pointed out “the size of the national mission entrusted to them and their ability to manage this file, and that the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad is starting to achieve its goals from the leadership, originality and excellence that the college enjoys, and that it is the duty of the college and everyone to manage this file once and for all, because today it has become an essential part of All scientific institutions have accreditation, whether institutional or programmatic.” The workshop aimed to build the capabilities of members of accreditation boards and members of educational quality assurance boards under the tent of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Agency/Quality Assurance Department and Accreditation Department in the field of building policies and mechanisms for evaluating programmatic accreditation boards, and introducing the principles of programmatic accreditation for medical colleges as a pioneering experience in the field of accreditation and a model for accreditation boards for various Scientific and humanitarian specializations. The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Yosra Muhammad Abdullah, followed by Professor Dr. Yosra Abdul-Rahman Mahmoud in reviewing the process of the Accreditation Council for Medical Colleges 2015-2023, Professor Dr. Ihsan Muhammad Ajina reviewing the work controls in the Council, Professor Dr. Firas Tariq Ismail, “The field visit mechanism and writing the report.” ", Ali Mansour presented the mechanism for preparing and selecting teams of inspectors, Professor Dr. Yosra Abdul-Rahman Mahmoud presented the evaluation mechanism, and concluded with what was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Sinan Bahjat Issa, in which he explained the post-accreditation mechanism and the policies followed. The workshop concluded by opening the floor to questions with the attendees, including heads and members of the field of accreditation in Iraqi universities, which enriched the workshop. The workshop also ended with recommendations that included the necessity of building policies and working mechanisms for the field of accreditation in each college, in a way that ensures facilitating the procedures for obtaining accreditation for academic programs in the colleges..
