The Committee of Deans of Medical Colleges in Iraq held its first virtual meeting for the 2025–2026 academic year on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ameen Abdul Hassan Mani’ Al-Alwani, Dean of the College of Medicine – University of Baghdad and Chair of the Committee, with the participation of all deans of medical colleges from both public and private universities.

The agenda emphasized the importance of advancing the scientific and academic landscape of Iraq’s medical colleges and promoting progress in line with global developments in medical education. Key discussions also addressed twinning programs between colleges, as a means to foster knowledge exchange and elevate academic performance.

The committee further reviewed critical topics, including:

Academic program development and curriculum review in medical sciences.

Adoption of automation and digital platforms to streamline academic and administrative processes.

Faculty capacity building to enhance the quality of medical education.

Particular attention was given to early and thorough preparation for the sixth-year national summative assessment (second round exam), ensuring its administration is conducted at the highest level of organization and quality standards.

In conclusion, the Chair of the Committee commended the deans for their dedicated efforts in advancing their institutions and extended best wishes for an academic year filled with success and accomplishments.
