The College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad organized a distinguished awareness campaign on the importance of undergoing a Pap smear test, a routine procedure commonly practiced in developed countries to prevent gynecological cancers.
The campaign was attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf, who praised the efforts of the college and its educational teams in raising health awareness among the community. This initiative represents an important step towards promoting the culture of preventive screenings and ensuring the health and safety of women against serious diseases.
The campaign was coordinated by faculty members from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, with participation from students to gain knowledge, and in collaboration with specialized medical companies. Awareness cards were distributed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and methods of cancer prevention.
In his speech, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Ameen Abdul-Hassan Manee Al-Alwani, emphasized the significance of this campaign and its role in raising awareness about cervical cancer and its causes, stating: “This campaign aims to enhance health awareness in the community."
Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani also highlighted that the campaign aims to shed light on the importance of early detection in accurately diagnosing cervical cancer, which helps in determining the appropriate treatment at the right time and improves the chances of recovery.”
