The College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad organized a distinguished awareness campaign on the importance of conducting a cervical smear, which is a common routine procedure in developed countries to prevent female cancers. The campaign was attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Insaf, who praised the efforts of the college and its educational teams in spreading health awareness among members of society. This initiative represents an important step towards promoting the culture of preventive examinations and ensuring the safety of women from the most dangerous diseases. The campaign was coordinated by instructors from the Gynecology Department at the College of Medicine in Baghdad, and students participated in it for the purpose of benefit, and in cooperation with specialized medical companies, as awareness cards were distributed aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of early examination and methods of preventing cancerous diseases. In a speech by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani, he stressed the importance of this campaign and its role in raising awareness about uterine cancer and its causes, saying: “This campaign aims to enhance health awareness in the community. Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani also pointed out that the campaign highlights the importance of early detection to accurately diagnose uterine cancer, which helps in determining the appropriate treatment at the appropriate time, and improves the chances of recovery.
