“In line with its ongoing commitment to consolidating academic quality and elevating scientific standards, the Quality Assurance Division at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Department of Physiology, organized a specialized scientific workshop titled “Physiology of Pain” on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Department of Physiology’s hall, with the participation of several faculty members and college students.

The lectures  were  Dr. Jalal Alwan and Dr. Fares Kadhim from the Department of Physiology. The sessions covered key scientific aspects, including an introduction to the concept and physiology of pain, its various types and origins, and the sensory and motor pathways transmitting pain sensations to higher brain centers. Additionally, the lectures reviewed types of analgesics and modern treatment modalities.

The workshop is part of the scientific program adopted by the college to enhance specialized knowledge and develop the academic and clinical capabilities of both faculty and students.This initiative aims to prepare highly competent medical personnel capable of keeping pace with the rapid advancements in medical sciences and serving the community with excellence and efficiency.”
