A Brotherhood Gathering and a Group Photograph to Commemorate the Occasion
The Ibn al-Haytham Hall hosted, on the morning of Sunday, 15 February 2026, a cordial gathering that brought together the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Amin Abdul-Hassan Manea Al-Alwani, with all members of the College, including male and female staff members as well as retired employees. This gracious initiative aimed to strengthen interpersonal bonds and foster communication and solidarity across generations.
The gathering commenced with a welcoming address delivered by the esteemed Dean, in which he expressed his great pleasure at the broad attendance, describing it as a reflection of the distinguished spirit of the College as one cohesive family. He commended the significant role played by administrative and support staff in advancing the College’s institutional mission and expressed his appreciation for the valuable contributions of retired employees, who had played an essential role in building and developing the institution over the years. He further emphasized that the College remains a home for all its members and that its doors remain open to its retired colleagues.
The gathering was attended by the College’s Assistant Deans, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Basel Ismail and Assistant Professor Dr. Amir Dhahir Hamidi. The event was characterized by an atmosphere of warmth, camaraderie, and mutual appreciation. Attendees exchanged friendly conversations and reminisced about their years of service and shared professional experiences. The occasion thus provided a meaningful representation of the bonds connecting different generations within the College.
The College Administration also honored its retired employees in recognition of their pivotal contributions to the College’s development over decades of dedicated service and sustained commitment. Their efforts have played an important role in maintaining the continuity of achievement and excellence that has characterized this longstanding institution and its academic and administrative personnel.
The College’s Follow-up Division, including its management and staff under the leadership of Mr. Qasim Abdul-Hussein, was also honored in recognition of their notable performance in carrying out their follow-up responsibilities and contributing to the maintenance of security, order, and stability within the College.
At the conclusion of the gathering, all attendees proceeded to the historic building of the College’s Deanship, where a commemorative group photograph was taken. The photograph brought together all participants—men and women, current employees and esteemed retirees—creating a symbolic representation of unity, institutional belonging, and shared identity.
This meaningful initiative, undertaken by the Dean, Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwany, reflects his continued commitment to fostering a culture of appreciation, recognition, and loyalty. It also reaffirms his conviction that administrative success is ultimately the product of collective effort, in which the contributions of all members of the institution—past and present—come together to support its continued development and excellence.
