The first National Symposium on Cardiac Arrhythmias concluded at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, under the patronage and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Ameen Abdul-Hassan Al-Alwany. The symposium, which featured a full day of lectures and specialized discussions, saw wide participation from Iraqi and Arab experts, and served as a significant academic event, reflecting the College of Medicine’s standing as a leading national platform for science and expertise.
The closing session witnessed the issuance of the symposium’s final statement, which included a set of scientific and professional recommendations aimed at advancing the field of cardiac electrophysiology in Iraq. These recommendations emphasized strengthening coordination and integration among academic institutions and specialized centers, adopting modern, evidence-based protocols, supporting professional training and development programs, encouraging scientific research, and expanding the use of advanced medical technologies to improve the quality of healthcare and medical education.
Participants stressed in their recommendations the importance of holding this symposium regularly, unifying national efforts, and strengthening joint institutional work to prioritize patient care and keep pace with global developments in this specialized field. The symposium concluded with the honoring of participating researchers, professors, lecturers, and guests from both inside and outside Iraq, in recognition of their scientific efforts and valuable contributions to the success of the symposium’s activities, as well as their active role in enriching its scientific and discussion sessions.
The events concluded with an emphasis on the fact that the issued recommendations represent a practical roadmap for advancing the field of cardiac arrhythmias in Iraq, and a call to transform them into actionable programs that contribute to improving medical performance, enhancing the quality of healthcare services, and solidifying the leading role of the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad in supporting medical education and scientific research.
