The Physiology Department at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, discussed a master's thesis titled "Assessment of the Diagnostic Value of Muscle Sonography in Peripheral Neuropathy Associated with Diabetes" on Sunday, September 10, 2023. The thesis was submitted by the student Sally Hossam Abdul Karim. The examination committee, chaired by Professor Dr. Najib Hasan Mohammed and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Nasser Hussein Al-Abbadi, included the members Assistant Professor Dr. Safaa Hussein and Assistant Professor Dr. Mariam Issa. The study aimed to evaluate the utility of muscle sonography in diagnosing peripheral neuropathy associated with diabetes. The study revealed that the average age of patients diagnosed with neuropathy was between 51 and 70 years. It also found that their muscle thickness was low, with an increase in the echo intensity of the lower limb muscles. The researcher received an excellent grade after the public defense of her thesis, taking into consideration the use of scientific references and her defense of the thesis.
