The Deanship of the college of Medicine received a delegation from the British Royal College of Physicians, headed by Prof. Dr. Abdul-Majeed Salmasi, responsible for practical examinations in the college, and in the presence of the head of Royal College of Physicians/London-Iraq Members & Fellows Network Prof. Dr. Hilal Bahjat al-Saffar on Thursday, the 16th of March 2023.
The visiting delegation agreed upon restoring cultural relations and activating joint scientific programs between the two sides. Several scientific issues related to the upcoming practical exams and the MRCP exam at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, were also discussed, with work to apply the standards required to perform the practical exam for the British Royal Colleges at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad. The delegation was briefed on the college heritage, and the newly rehabilitated smart halls in the basic sciences building and the clinical skills laboratory in line to the met international standards for placing exams in them.
Meanwhile, the application of the visiting professor program was also discussed between the British Royal Colleges and the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, and the subject of the joint supervision between the two parties on the research of doctoral students at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, and joint research between the two academic faculties. A medical ethics lecture was delivered to the 6th grade student in the presence of the College professors, and what are the important issues facing the newly graduated Physicians, and other scientific topics on medical curricula.
The members of the visiting delegation expressed their appreciation and welcome for the efforts made by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the University of Baghdad, and the College of Medicine, which serves as a representation of Iraq's medical history. They also praised the college and the caliber of its students who successfully completed the training program in Britain under the supervision of the Royal College of Physicians.
