In coordination with the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, The National Pioneer Center for Cancer Research organizes a workshop on “The latest developments in early detection of cervical cancer”
The practical workshop was opened on Sunday, the second of June of this year, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani, the assistants of the Dean for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, and the head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, Professor Dr. Hedef Dhafer El-Yassin, and with the participation of medical academic elite, including faculty teachers and researchers.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Mohammad Aziz, a consultant obstetrics and gynecology at North Wake Park Hospital, in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr.Kawakib Najm al-Deen Abdullah, Director of the National Pioneer Center for Cancer Research.
The workshop included practical training on pathological cases over two days.
The aims are to introduce the latest medical developments in early detection and treatment of cervical cancer in the UK, to reduce its incidence in Iraq, and to raise awareness about its seriousness with the possibility of complete recovery after early detection.
Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani highlighted his commitment to joint research programs with the center and providing necessary support. He also recommended Dr. Mohammad Aziz to visit the department to provide lectures.
The organizers recommend developing an action plan for early detection at the Iraqi Ministry of Health level, in cooperation with the College of Medicine and the National Pioneer Center for Cancer Research.
They also propose scheduling annual workshops and scientific seminars for female doctors specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
