In accordance with the government program order and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research program to support research and development, the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, announces the start of implementation work on the optical cable network project that connects all the college buildings to the central building. This project comes within the framework of developing the technical infrastructure of the college to meet the growing needs in the field of communications and data transfer. The project details include implementing the infrastructure of the optical cable network that will work to connect all the buildings to each other, which will enable the college to provide all facilities with fast and secure internet connection. The optical cable is characterized by its high capacity to transfer huge amounts of data at high speed and great stability, which contributes to improving the overall performance of all electronic services in the college. The College of Medicine has begun implementing the project in parallel with the rest of the buildings, as the college departments, medical laboratories and other research facilities will be linked, which will facilitate communication between the different departments, and allow the transfer of medical and scientific data with great speed and accuracy, which contributes to improving the quality of education and scientific research. The optical cable represents a qualitative leap in the field of communications and data transmission, as it will provide many benefits, including high speed, large capacity, sustainability, stability and stability, in addition to fast communication free from interruptions and interference. This project is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing the college’s capabilities at the technical level, which will benefit the educational and research process and enable the college to keep pace with the latest global technologies.
