Baghdad College of Medicine is unique in Iraq as the first academic institution to grant a specialized certificate in catheterization for heart diseases
In an important academic event, the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, is unique among Iraqi medical colleges as the first academic institution to grant a specialized certificate in catheterization for heart diseases. The college received a number of students taking exams in this specialty this morning, Tuesday, 11th September.
The exam was held under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ameen Al-Alwani, and the study rapporteur, Professor Dr. Hassan Farhan, and the head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Professor Dr. Muataz Fawzi Hussein, with the participation of a number of catheterization professors in medical colleges in all Iraqi governorates.
It is worth noting that the exam was usually held in specialized cardiac centers, and today, for the first time, the OSCE halls system was successfully followed in organizing the exam and its success in graduating a new batch of doctors and obtaining a specialty certificate in this field.
This experiment comes as part of the College of Medicine’s duties to provide health institutions with medical competencies and work to achieve the goal of evaluating examiners’ skills and ensuring distinguished medical outcomes, to optimally deal with cardiac emergencies such as angina and heart attack, as they are the leading cause of death in the world.
