As part of an awareness campaign on the dangers of drugs, the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the National Security Service, organized an awareness workshop entitled “No to Drugs.” The workshop targeted students and faculty members, aiming to raise awareness of the dangers of this scourge that threatens individuals and society.
A specialized team from the National Security Service presented the workshop, reviewing the most prominent risks associated with the spread of drugs. They addressed its legal, medical, and social dimensions, and the serious negative effects it has on human health and future academic and professional prospects, as well as its repercussions on families and society.
The workshop also discussed the severe legal penalties imposed by Iraqi laws on drug traffickers and dealers, emphasizing that the relevant authorities are taking strict measures to curb this phenomenon and protect society, particularly in educational institutions.
During the workshop, the National Security Service team stressed the importance of community cooperation and reporting cases of drug trafficking or promotion within colleges and university campuses, given its crucial role in maintaining a safe university environment and protecting students from falling prey to these dangers.
This workshop is part of a series of awareness activities that the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad is keen to organize, within the framework of its scientific and community role in promoting a preventive culture and spreading awareness among students and faculty to confront the phenomenon of drugs and reduce their spread.
